A Day Camp Resource for Girl Scouts in the Southwestern Suburbs
The Vista Star Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of the Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys Council is a group of 40+ troops from Hopkins ISD 270, a large suburban school district in the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are an active and vibrant service unit serving more than 500 girl and adult Girl Scouts from a wide range of public, parochial, private and home schools. We welcome Girl Scouts from all service units within the River Valleys council.
Through name changes and reorganizations, Vista Star and its predecessor service units have sponsored a day camp for the girls of our community for over two decades.
Who Are Our Staff?
We draw our volunteer staff members from the Girl Scout community and include trained leaders, parents and council staff members. All staff members are enthusiastic supporters of Girl Scouts, experienced in working with children, and undergo criminal background checks as part of the qualification process. Many have daughters attending the camp or who have attended in the past. A trained, adult 'First Aider' will be present whenever camp is in session.
