What is Day Camp? Pre-COVID Information
Day camp is a one-week non-overnight local camp experience where girls learn outdoor skills, try new activities, work in groups, and make new friends. Girls are placed in small groups with other girls their age and supervised by adult leaders and older girl Program Aides.
Who Can Register?
We welcome as campers all girls entering first to sixth grades in Fall 2020. Girls entering seventh grade and older may apply for positions as Program Aides ("Caddies") or Program Staff members. Girls entering 7th grade and above who may not feel ready for caddie positions are encouraged to contact one of the directors for options - there is a place for you at camp! Camp Trefoil is proudly inclusive and will attempt to accommodate any girl who wishes to attend. Non-Girl Scout-members (both girls and adult volunteers) will be able to join Girl Scouts for a nominal $25 fee through online registration at the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys website.
Will transportation be provided?
Because we strive to keep camp participation affordable for all girls, parents or guardians will be responsible for transporting girls to and from camp.
This sounds great! What does it cost?
2020 program fees are $100 for campers and $50 for caddies. Our Day Camp has been and will continue to be one of the most cost-effective summer day camp options in the area. The fee can be further reduced by using unexpired cookie credits, Fall FUNds or Juliette proceeds or by applying for a grant from River Valleys. Adult volunteers receive one free day of camp for one camper or caddie for each day of volunteering. It's fun, thrifty and a great way to share a special experience with your daughter, granddaughter, troop member, or other special girl in your life. You don't have to be a parent or a troop leader to volunteer!
What about health and safety? Will my camper be safe?
Health and safety awareness is a part of staff training and camper orientation. We follow the guidelines provided by the Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys as well as state and local health codes. We have a trained, adult "First Aider" on site at all times.
Is day camp deductible as a day care expense?
It may be, depending upon your individual circumstances. Please consult your tax professional for a determination.
Our tax ID is 41-0693910.
Registration Deadline?
Unfortunately, camp is cancelled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
How do I find out more?
Send a note to the day camp co-directors, Laurie Powell Anderson ("Frodo:") and Terry Burgess ("O'Keefe") from the Contact Us page or email directly to [email protected]
